Piero
Castellini Baldissera refined architect and
interior decorator, follows the tradition of his grandfather Piero
Portaluppi who played an important role in Italian
architecture of the 1930’s.
Piero Castellini
Baldissera versatile career, rich in prestigious interventions, offer a
fascinating testimony in home evolution. His unique talent of finding different
scenic spaces in various traditional contexts brings to light his acute
sensitivity for colour, fabrics and atypical furniture.
The family of Emanuele
Castellini instead is tied to the cloth industry:
his great grandfather Clateo entered the world of textiles by buying a linen,
jute and hemp factory, founded back in 1850. Initially this factory specialized
in bags for the Italian Post Office, anti-hail covers and cheese-cloth.
As it evolved
the company concentrated on the use of natural fibres, later developing ranges
of household linen and the famous deckchair fabric for the Lido in Venice and
the beaches of the Adriatic and Mediterranean.
In the 1980’s
the company merged with Braghenti of Como a mill specializing in silk for
women’s wear and men’s ties, and under the direction of Emanuele developed a
complete range of fabrics and yarns. Later in the 1990’s Braghenti Castellini
was acquired by the silk colossal Ratti of Como, with whom he collaborated
until the formation of C&C.
